Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Wishd is an indie-game discovery service that lets you create a page for an upcoming game and get notified when it launches. We are committed to protecting your personal data and respecting your privacy, in line with the UK GDPR, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the Data Protection Act 2018.

We act as the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

2. What data we collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

  • Account data — if you sign in with Google, we collect the name, email address, and profile picture associated with your Google account, so you can create and manage game pages.
  • Subscription / wish data — your email address when you subscribe to be notified about a game's launch, along with the games you wish for.
  • Game content — game names, descriptions, links, release dates, and images that you provide when creating a game page.
  • Technical data — cookies and short-lived tokens used to remember your intent between steps of signing in or subscribing.

We do not collect more data than is necessary to provide these features.

3. How we use your data

  • To create and display game pages you publish on Wishd.
  • To send you a confirmation email when you subscribe, and a single notification email when a game you wished for launches.
  • To authenticate you via your Google account.
  • To provide you with unsubscribe links and manage your wishes.
  • To operate, improve, and secure the service.

We process your data on the following legal bases under the GDPR: performance of a contract (providing the service you requested), your consent (where you subscribe to notifications), and our legitimate interest in operating and securing the service.

4. Who we share data with

We never sell your personal data. We only share it where necessary to provide the service:

  • Google — to provide sign-in via your Google account.
  • Email providers — to deliver confirmation and launch notification emails you have requested.
  • File/media hosting — to store images you upload for your game page.
  • Infrastructure providers — to host the service and its database.

Where these providers are located outside the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions) to protect your data.

5. How long we keep your data

We keep your account and game data for as long as your account is active. Subscription data is kept while you remain subscribed. Unconfirmed subscriptions and session-intent cookies are automatically deleted within a short period. When you unsubscribe or delete your account, we delete the associated personal data where no legal obligation requires us to keep it.

6. Your rights

Depending on your location, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct any inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Request deletion of your personal data.
  • Object to, or restrict, certain processing.
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.

Every notification email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can also contact us to exercise any of these rights using the details below. If you are dissatisfied, you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

7. How we protect your data

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to keep your data secure, including encryption in transit, restricted access to personal data, and secure authentication. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to protect your information to a high standard.

8. Cookies and local storage

We use small, short-lived cookies to make signing in and subscribing work smoothly (for example, remembering which game you intended to subscribe to before completing sign-in). These cookies are optional for core browsing but necessary for the sign-in and subscribe flows. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

9. Children's privacy

Wishd is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and update the “Last updated” date above. Where changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to notify you.
